Reasons you might want to book a training walk...
- other dog walkers/ sitters have said they can't help until your dog has had some training
- they pull so much it's hurting you
- you've become anxious when walking them, but still want to be part of the training experience
- you need them to be looked after while you're out, and want them to be trained at the same time
- you have a young puppy, and want them trained while you're out - if they are unvaccinated, the 'walk' will be training in the house and garden
The training
Sarah will use reward-based training (food, play, praise and life rewards), working on whatever training goals have been discussed. If your dog pulls, she may use/ recommend different equipment, such as a headcollar or harness and double-ended lead. It's best if you supply food treats that your dog enjoys and that is suitable for their health - if your dog has a particular allergy or intolerance you need to let Sarah know.
Sarah does not use slip leads, dominance/ control collars, prong collars or e-collars.
At the moment, dogs will be walked from owner's homes, rather than taken in Sarah's car (this may change in the future, so please contact her for more information if you would prefer this).
If you wish to be an observer, you can bring your dog to a suitable location eg a park, and the training walk will happen there.
It's important to remember that Sarah will be working on skills that your dog needs to continue learning with you. She cannot wave a 'magic wand' and your dog is suddenly well-behaved. She will explain/ demonstrate the techniques she uses so that you are able to practise.
Cost
It's £40 for a one hour training walk. (If you require longer, please discuss this with Sarah).
Only available for the Tonbridge/ Hildenborough areas at the moment.
